Waist to hip ratio

The waist-to-hip ratio is a measure of abdominal obesity. Excess body fat in the abdominal area has been closely linked to an increased risk for diabetes, cardiovascular disease and stroke. To get your waist-to-hip ratio, measure your waist at its narrowest point and divide by the number you get on measuring your hips at their widest point.
If the waist-to-hip ratio is .85 or higher for women, they need to lose weight. and for men if the waist-to-hip ratio is 1.0 or higher, they need to lose weight.
For example: A male body's waist measures 40 inches and hips measure 38 inches. Then
Waist-to-Hip Ratio is 40/38 = 1.05
1.05 is higher than 1.0 - he should lose some weight.
The waist and hip measurement difference should not be more than 0.9 Inches in both male and female. If this difference is less than 0.9 Inches in female, that too was an alarming sign for their health. The normal waist line in male should not measure more than 40 inches, while in female it should be 36 inches. The hip-line thus could be either 39.1 Or 40.9 Inches in male, and 35.1 Or 36.9 Inches in female. The waist to hip ratio can also affect the blood pressure and cause heart ailments, if obesity is not controlled. Regular exercise and fat free dietary habits could maintain the desired waist to hip ratio.
