SUPPLEMENTS
Dietary supplements are products that usually come in the form
of pills. The supplements are intended to be ways to ingest nutrition
that we might not be getting from food. These can include vitamins,
minerals, oils, fatty acids, metabolites, etc. These pills are
sold as supplements and not as drugs, because drugs are scrutinized
in labs to be determined safe and/or healthy. Supplements are
free from these restrictions, and therefore people should be wary
of purchasing them without knowing exactly what to expect.
These products can be as simple as a supplement to give you vitamin
c, or e, which can be quite safe and probably unnecessary. Meanwhile,
some other products, like herbal remedies, can actually be derived
from plants that might have adverse effects in the body. These
problems are usually only discovered after some time.
Regardless, supplements should be discussed with a physician
before you begin taking any.
