INTRODUCTION
Your metabolism is the rate your body consumes energy. When you
ingest food, your body is recieving calories, which are a unit
of energy that your body uses. Whenever your body performs an
action, even those as simple as breathing and pumping blood, it
is consuming energy. The way your body consumes this energy is
your metabolism.
Metabolisms vary by sex, body type, age, weight, and physical
condition. Each of these factors influence metabolism differently,
and will be discussed in this section.
