THE CONCEPT
The plan with a juice fast is to consume only a specially-formulated
juice drink for a short period of time. These diet drinks are
available through special retailers and some diet/health stores.
You purchase the adequate amount of the juice for the suggested
time period according to the specific diet/juice that you are
employing. From the beginning of the diet to the end, you are
to drink or eat nothing but this juice. After the time has passed
(usually 2 days) you should have lost about 10 pounds.
THE PLAN
The juices are meant to be cleansing solutions as well as fat-burning
drinks. During the period in which this is all you are consuming,
the drink workds to clear out your digestive tract and the rest
of your body of all remaining toxins. It also loosens your loose
fat so it can be expelled from your body. The drink also speeds
up your metabolism so once the diet is over, your food will be
digested more completely in the future.
Juice Fast diets are very popular as a quick fix to lose weight.
Although they usually show the projected results, the lasting
effects are not there. Because of the fast nature of the diet
plus the fact that the user does not perform any special tasks
or learn any new eating habits, the majority of users quickly
regain their weight.
These diets are also not recommended because of the shock nature
of them. When you abruptly decide not to consume any of your usual
foods, your body reacts in order to derive your energy from another
source (stored fat). Doing this shocks your system, and only 2
days later you switch it back again to a food burning system.
This can be very harmful to your kidneys.
