THE CONCEPT
The Grapefruit Diet is a typical fad diet in that it is based
on a feeble fat-burning concept. It is a food combining diet,
as it relies on the concumption of certain foods in unison, and
only these foods. The diet permits eating large amounts of the
required foods, and also provides a minimum amount of everything.
The "fat burning qualities" of the grapefruit are the
center of this diet.
THE PLAN
The Grapefruit Diet is based on the assumption that grapefruits
possess natural fat-burning qualities. By consuming a portion
of grapefruit with every meal, you will be losing weight with
no physical effort.
The plan calls for users to eat the required meals for a 12 day
period, followed by 2 days of normal eating, followed again by
another 12 day cycle. People on this diet are supposed to expect
weight loss of up to 50 pounds
The weight loss on this diet is caused primarily by the low caloric
intake. You are also consuming basically fruits and protein. This
can lead to a lack of vitamins and minerals in the body that are
essential to a healthy body.
