CONTENT OF FOODS
Foods contain alot of various nutrients, vitamins, minerals,
and most importantly, calories. The word calorie has gotten a
bad stigma attached to it, but we need calories, just the right
types. In any case, here are some major items we derive from foods.
Calories come from eating protein, fat, and carbohydrates. These
three substances are the sources of our energy, and form the building
materials for new cells and muscles. We recieve these calories
from all foods, no one category provides us with carbs, but the
bulk of our carbs come from breads and cereals and fruits and
vegetables, pasta and the like. Protein is found abundantly in
meats, also tofu and nuts. And fat, can be found in almost everything,
but in different amounts and different types. The trick is eating
the right fats and avoiding foods rich in saturated and trans
fats.
