THE CONCEPT
Food Combining is a title for a larger group of diets that rely
on the combinations of certain foods for weight loss. The idea
is that people may lose weight if they separate the foods they
consume and eat certain foods together. Fit
For Life is an example of a Food Combining diet.
THE PLANS
The specifics for the diet depend on which food combining plan
you choose. By reading the book for the plan you selected, you
will then come to know how to eat to lose weight according to
the diet. Most food combining plans tell you that dairy foods
are forbidden, as well as refined sugar. Then, the basic plans
will ask that for the first 5 to 10 days, you eat only fruit.
Then, you may only eat fruit in the morning and never eat fruit
closely to eating carbohydrates or protein. Then, for each meal,
you may choose to eat only carbs, such as breads, vegetables,
pasta, etc.
The diets are not proven scientifically to be healthy methods
of weight loss. They do, however, provide users with an intial
weight loss mainly because of the extremely low calorie intake
over the first few days. The actual act of combining only certain
foods has not been shown to provide any fat-burning properties.
These diets are actually unhealthy as they tend not to supply
the body with the necessary vitamins and minerals.
Some of the diets are meant for approximately a month, others
are said to be indefinate. However, with the lack of essential
nutrients, this would be a bad idea.
