Liquid Diet

The liquid diet is basically a diet consisting of the juicy fruits along with green vegetables and salads. This highly reduces the junk food intake and the liquid diet supplies only the bare indispensables for the body. It substitutes junk snacks and heavy meals with nutritious liquids like shakes made from natural sweetners, skimmed milk powder, fiber, vitamins and minerals. During this diet the cells of the human body rely for energy upon the stored fats in the body instead seeking of seeking it from the food intake. This way the excess fat or weight of the body gets used up and lost during a liquid diet. The liquid diet is easy to digest and does not leave much residue in the stomach and intestines.

In the liquid diet period two meals and one snack is replaced with one liquid drink or a shake. Conventionally every drink or shake holds about 210 calories and up to 4 grams of fat. A wholesome meal contains around 590 calories and comprises a drink or shake along with some green vegetables and fresh fruits. Thus the total calorie intake throughout the day is restricted to 1000 calories to 1200 calories in an effective Liquid Diet plan.

Liquid diets generally fall into two categories.
Commercial Liquid Diets/Meal Replacement Plans: This is the popular type of liquid diet. In this plan, liquid meal replacements are consumed by the dieter in place of one or two regular daily meals. In addition, the dieter may consume one or two meals of real food (usually low-fat and calorie-controlled). Some liquid diet programs offer pre-packaged meal-options for these real meals.
Low Calorie Liquid Diets/Meal Replacement Plans: This type of liquid diet consists of medically supervised liquid meal replacements that provide about 500-800 calories per day (a very low calorie plan). These then progress to include a certain amount of solid food. Usually short-term only, this type of liquid diet is usually reserved for seriously obese people who need to lose a lot of weight quickly.

Following liquid diet plan is not very difficult, as all the major ingredients and components of liquid diet are available in every market or shop. Thus any interested person can follow this diet plan. The only problem with this diet is that no liquid diet can provide effective weight loss without the eating habit of solid foods that provide the real energy to the human body even in the time of weight loss, because weight loss is not necessarily to get weak or lose energy.

The liquid diet is effective when followed wisely for a shorter period of time and helps greatly in controlling your weight.
