HEART DISEASE PREVENTION - DEAN ORNISH DIET - ONLINE DIETS

DEAN ORNISH

THE CONCEPT

The Dean Ornish diet was created around the idea that heart disease can be reversed by diet. After discovering scientific data supporting his claims, Dean Ornish developed the diet, which is split into two separate diets for two separate kinds of dietors. The first is a Prevention Diet, meant to keep people with decent health levels away from dangerous levels of cholesterol and other health problems. The second is a Reversal Diet, meant to undo any negative aspects to your health status.

THE PLAN

The Reversal Diet is a vegetarian diet, full of complex carbohydrates. The diet asks you to steer clear of simple carbs, such as sugars and alcohol. You are expected to eat plenty of vegetables, grains, bread, beans, non-fat dairy products. This diet, if followed properly, is proven to reduce heart disease, lower cholesterol, and allow someone to regain a healthy body.

The Prevention Diet takes into account your cholesterol levels, age, height, weight, and health goals. It then modifies your protein and fat intake in order to control your heart health and your cholesterol.

Weight loss on this program is secondary to overall health. If you are just looking for a quick fix on your weight problem, this diet probably isn't your best option. However, if you wish to increase your health and are looking for a loose style to dieting, then maybe you should consider buying this book.
