Body fat is a major concern of many people. And rightly so, the
amount of body fat we possess gives a good indication of our level
of health, and can give us what we need to have as goals for weight
loss and maintenance.
Your body fat is quite simply a measurement, in percentage of
your overall weight, that your body has of stored fat. It can
also allow you to calculate the weight of the fat stored on your
body.
Nowadays, the Body Mass Index is the preferred form of measuring
your level of weight versus body type, to discover if you are
overweight. Body Fat is a similar type of calculator, however
it is more concerned with giving you a measure more direct than
simply the scale. When you step on the scale, you are only measuring
your overall weight. This does not differentiate from muscle,
bone, water, organs, etc. On a weight table, a bodybuilder would
appear overweight for their height, however on a body fat scale,
they would be considered quite healthy.
Therefore, the body fat reading for an individual can tell you
much more in regards to how healthy that person's weight really
is.
